Susan is a professional writer with forty years of experience. Her writing expertise includes fiction, non-fiction, newspaper writing, business writing, public relations and journaling.

susan-mic-transpShe is the author of Entering the Thriver Zone: A Seven-Step Guide to Thriving After Abuse and Staying in the Thriver Zone: A Road Map to Manifest a Life of Power and Purpose, both non-fiction books. She is also the author of Awaken, a novel, and her second novel, Emerge, will be published in October, 2019.  She is currently working on the third books in both her fiction and non-fiction series.

Susan has written articles and essays for numerous publications including The Hartford Courant and Woman Magazine.

Job Experience & Training

Susan has been a newspaper editor and reporter, worked in public relations at a hospital and held a job in classified advertising at the Detroit Free Press. She has also served in several top executive-level jobs in state government where she did policy writing. She is an attorney and the author of three legal books on sex discrimination law, one of which is currently published by ThomsonReuters. She has also written numerous bulletins on women’s legal rights and violence against women and legislation on a variety of public policy issues.

Teaching Experience

Susan has taught writing classes at several adult and community education programs since April, 2001. She currently teaches memoir writing classes at  senior citizen centers and works with writers who wish to improve their writing skills in private sessions or in groups. She taught for eight years in a paralegal program. She has also given many presentations and seminars on creative writing and conducted weekend writing retreats on writing and creativity for the past twenty years. She is the award-winning originator and facilitator of My Avenging Angel Workshops™ helping women who have been abused to reclaim their lives.

She is a member of the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) and the Association of Publishers for Special Sales (APSS).  She is also a member of the International Women’s Writing Guild (IWWG).
