Similar in format to Julia Cameron’s best-selling book, The Artist’s Way, The Thriver Workbook sets forth the motivational guidance Susan has successfully used in her My Avenging Angel Workshops™ to take women on a journey of self-discovery and heightened self-esteem. With easy-to-use work sheets, interactive writing exercises and inspirational Thriver Success Stories from those who have survived abuse, the book provides a blueprint for women who want to move permanently out of the cycle of violence in their lives. For one quarter of the women in United States (more than 12 million) who will be subjected to abuse and its lingering aftermath in their lifetimes, this workbook will show them how to live well, be happy and become strong and confident once again.

Live Music by Vanessa Stevens

The evening will feature singer/songwriter Vanessa Stevens, creator of The Purple Song Project, which promotes hope, healing and awareness about domestic violence through song.

The Thriver Workbook Companion CD, featuring Vanessa’s songs, will also be available for purchase.

What is a “Thriver?”

No longer a victim beyond a survivor, she is a “thriver” on the brink of a new life. She’s a new breed of woman moving on after abuse, and she wants her revenge. Living well will be her best revenge for she isn’t stuck in her anger or caught in a downward spiral. Instead, she’s pushing through her fears, rediscovering the positive energy in her life and forging a new future for herself and her children.

About Susan

Susan M. Omilian is the award-winning originator and facilitator of My Avenging Angel Workshops™, which empower women who have been abused to take this amazing journey from victim to survivor to thriver.

Launched in 2001, these workshops have been described by participants as “life-changing” and “providing a component for women recovering from abuse that has until now been virtually overlooked.”

Susan was inspired to develop these workshops after her niece Maggie, a 19-year-old college student, was murdered in October 1999 by her ex-boyfriend, who then killed himself. As an attorney and survivor of homicide on her own journey to becoming a thriver, Susan has come to recognize the power in the moment when a woman decides to leave the abuse and reclaim her life. For Maggie, that moment of realization was the moment of her death. In order to avenge Maggie’s death, Susan motivates women to move on, since Maggie could not.

About The Thriver Workbook

4814_productsThe Thriver Workbook: Journey from Victim to Survivor to Thriver! is an important addition to the many other successful books on the market that assist women in getting out of abusive relationships, but this one more precisely describes the process of moving on into a new life. It will be invaluable not only to victims of abuse, but also to their families, friends, attorneys, counselors, therapists and crisis center staff across the country. It will also give the general public an understanding of the healing journey after abuse — a process that anyone of them might recognize for the first time as being necessary in their own lives.

About The Thriver Workbook Companion CD

The Thriver Workbook Companion CD includes five heartfelt songs from three women singer/songwriters who describe their journey to thriving through music, as well as a Guided Meditation, The Thriver in Me Honors the Thriver in You and an Affirmation from The Happy Person Inside, which inspires listeners to find their own way to the thriver energy inside them.
